Having helmed buzzy nocturnal favorites Kingside, The Roof and Mr. Purple in New York, Gerber Group CEO Scott Gerber knows sophistication and hopes to re-create the magic in D.C. “Washington is a truly beautiful new home for us, and I’ve come to appreciate even more deeply what makes this city so special,” says Gerber. His first local property, 12 Stories, lifted the red velvet rope for the public recently and holds court atop the InterContinental Hotel at the WharfDC. The 3,500-square-foot penthouse bar pairs leather and velvet furnishings with concrete flooring and Paige Smith artwork for an industrial-chic aesthetic.
