Hospitality purveyor Scott Gerber expands his nightlife empire to Washington with an upscale sensibility and panoramic river views.
For the best summer vibes reserve a table on the terrace and enjoy the views, signature cocktails and locally sourced oysters and ceviche-style crudo.
Having helmed buzzy nocturnal favorites Kingside, The Roof and Mr. Purple in New York, Gerber Group CEO Scott Gerber knows sophistication and hopes to re-create the magic in D.C. “Washington is a truly beautiful new home for us, and I’ve come to appreciate even more deeply what makes this city so special,” says Gerber. His first local property, 12 Stories, lifted the red velvet rope for the public recently and holds court atop the InterContinental Hotel at the WharfDC. The 3,500-square-foot penthouse bar pairs leather and velvet furnishings with concrete flooring and Paige Smith artwork for an industrial-chic aesthetic. Meanwhile, 13-foot-tall windows and an outdoor terrace provide epic environs for twilight musings or boozy brunches. That’s what we call top tier. 801 Wharf St. SW, D.C., 12storiesdc.com
