New Year's Eve is a time to reflect on what's past so we can make wise decisions for our future. This year, we encourage you to celebrate as much as you can and as safely as you can so our nation can head toward a swift recovery.

As we've all learned, the future is a gamble. Why not place some bets? Release some steam and play the night away at the MGM Casino. Roll dice, pick a card and thank your lucky stars that the casino is open and running - just be sure to wear a mask and keep six-feet of social distance to ensure a safe night out for everyone. This coming year is about playing our cards right.

As much as we love the comfort of homecooked meals, getting pampered at a restaurant is sometimes just what we need. Though many restaurants have temporarily closed, Sequoia welcomes guests in their ventilated and safely-distanced venue. Situated right by the gorgeous Potomac River, Sequoia romances with an exquisite American menu and a grandiose panorama. From here, you can see Arne Quinze’s large sculptures, the Kennedy Center, Roosevelt Bridge, Roosevelt Island, Key Bridge and the Virginia skyline. Enjoy your last meal this year outdoors on the romantic mezzanine, or stay warm inside in private rooms featuring stunning contemporary art such as Hitoshi Kuriyama’s neon and glass vacuum tube light installation.

Sometimes a loud BANG is just what you need to clear the air. This year's fireworks have not been canceled, though they've moved to an earlier time. It's midnight at the top of every hour from 6 to 9 p.m. Enjoy the magical moment with a glass of champagne and toast to a better year - just make sure you book your tickets ahead!

For a more spiritual experience, we suggest reconnecting with nature. Forest bathing, or shinrin yoku, is the simple practice of taking in the woods through the senses. This two-hour program invites you to actively and deeply connect with nature. The flora and fauna can help you relax, brighten your mood and boost your immune system. It's a great way to reboot just in time for the new year. Each forest bathing walk will end with a soothing tea ceremony — featuring adorable pre-packaged snacks to end on a sweet note.
